People Empowerment and Advancement Center for Employment (PEACE) School launched
The People Empowerment and Advancement Center for Employment (PEACE) school was launched last April 28, 2008. It's the first school of its kind the the Philippines and is located on a 400 sq. m. lot near the New Public Market in Barangay Suklayin, Baler, Aurora.
Gov. Bella Angara-Castillo secured a Php 5 million grant from the government of Japan to fund the construction of the center. The provincial government contributed a counterpart funding of Php 1.68 million while Cong. Sonny Angara, through his Countrywide Development Fund, donated Php 1 million to provide all the equipment necessary to launch educational courses.
The PEACE educational center is open to all residents of Aurora and is geared to help the socially disadvantaged sectors of society; namely, women, people with disability, out of school youth and senior citizens. Admission requirements are as follows:
- A bonafide resident of Aurora Province
- Barangay / Police clearance for enrollees above 21 years old
- Certificate of indigency from the PSWDO or MSWDO
