Doña Aurora Quezon's remains enshrined at Quezon Memorial
After 26 years of separation, Doña Aurora was finally reunited with her beloved husband, Manuel L. Quezon.
Last April 28, 2005 the remains of the late Doña Aurora Aragon Quezon were re-interred at the Quezon Memorial Circle where the tomb of her husband, Manuel, the Philippines' First Commonwealth President, has been buried since 1979.
The remains of the late President and his First Lady were originally interred at the Manila North Cemetery but when the Quezon Memorial Circle was finally completed, Quezon's remains were transferred on August 19, 1979.
After almost three decades, Doña Aurora joins Manuel after Malacañang issued Proclamation 836 last April 27, 2005 which stated the transfer of Doña Aurora's remains to the Quezon Memorial Circle as well as the commemoration of her death anniversary.
The province of Aurora was named in her honor after she championed for its creation as a sub-province after World War II. Aurora was officially named a sub-province in 1951 comprising of the municipalities of Baler, Casiguran, Disalag, Dipaculao, Dinalongan, Dingalan, Maria Aurora and San Luis. In 1979, Batas Pambansa Bilang 7 officially named Aurora the Philippines' 73rd province.
