NGO Offers Shelter to Dingalan Folks
Though typhoon-ravaged folks of Dingalan, Aurora have lost their homes to a succession of storms late last year, another non-governmental organization has arrived with help.
Netherlands-assisted Terres des Hommes (TDH) represented by Telay Gaban has committed to provide assistance for the construction of 75 core-type houses for the folks of Dingalan in Barangay Umiray.
In an agreement with the Association of Rural Community Workers (Arcow), TDH will supply construction materials such as cement, hollow blocks, iron sheets, nails while Arcow will be responsible for determining the beneficiaries of the housing help. Arcow will also be providing carpenters but in entirety, the houses will be built via the "bayanihan" system.
Barangays Umiray and Paltic in Dingalan endured the worst beating of series of storms that hit Aurora from November to December last year. Leaving hundreds dead, the storms also brought in floods and mudslides that destroyed most of the homes of the residents of the two villages.
