"Labuyo" to hit Aurora

TROPICAL depression "Labuyo" is expected to make a landfall in Aurora-Isabela area this morning (Wednesday), the weather bureau said Tuesday.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration warns of possible landslides and flashfloods in these provinces and has placed them under public storm warning signal No. 1 as of Tuesday.

Landslides and flash-floods may also happen in coastal and low-lying areas as well as on mountain slopes in Catandanues, Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Marin-duque, Quezon and Quirino where signal No. 1 was also issued.

The center of Labuyo at 10 a.m. Tuesday was 160 kilometers east of Daet, Camarines Norte.

Winnie Gatap, a Pagasa weather forecaster, said that Labuyo which has sustained winds of 55 kilometers an hour is also expected to affect Central Luzon and Northern Luzon Wednesday.
